Carbon Dioxide and Other Research Areas
The Energy Pipelines CRC can take on additional research funded from different sources. One such area of research to date has been a program of work for the previous Commonwealth Government Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism (now the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science).
RP7.0 - Draft CO2 Appendix for AS2885 - Completed
RP7.2.1 - Equations of State to Model the Behaviour of CO2 Mixtures - Completed
RP7.2.2 - Decompression Characteristics of CO2 Mixtures - Completed
RP7.2.3 - CO2 Dispersion - Completed
RP7.2.4 - Water Content in CO2 Mixtures - Completed
RP7.3 - Cost-Benefit Modelling for CO2 Pipelines - Completed
RP7.4 - Public Safety, Community Consultation and Organisational Requirements for CO2 Pipelines - Completed
RP7.5 CO2 Dispersion Phase 2 - Completed
Carbon Capture & Storage Research and Development Demonstration Fund
The CCS RD&D project agreement with the Commonwealth was signed in late June 2016.
The joint project between the Energy Pipelines CRC and DNV GL includes;
- The development of software tools related to fracture and dispersion modelling to address the key design issues faced by the proponents of a CCS project.
- These offer significant benefits in terms of design confidence, lowering project risk and associated costs.
