Andrew Hopkins Honoured In Queens Birthday List
Emeritus Professor Andrew Hopkins has been named in the Queens Birthday honours list as an Officer (AO) in the General Division in the Order of Australia. Emeritus Professor Hopkins is based at the Australian National University and has made both direct and indirect contributions to a number of Energy Pipelines CRC Research Projects.
Since the establishment of the Energy Pipelines CRC Andrew has been an advisor and Mentor within Research Program Four with a strong interest in Organisational culture and its impact of safety. Andrew has co-authored a number of books with Energy Pipelines CRC researchers including Nightmare Pipeline Failures; Fantasy Planning, Black Swans and Integrity Management in partnership with RP4 leader A/Prof Jan Hayes (RMIT). Andrew also co-authored Risky Rewards; How Company Bonuses Affect Safety with former RP4 researcher Sarah Maslen (ANU).
Beyond his contributions to the Energy Pipelines CRC, Andrew has been involved with a number of other important safety initiatives. Andrew is an advisor to a number of industrial and government safety committees as well as holding Fellowships with the Institution of Chemical Engineers, the UK Safety and Reliability Society and the Safety Institute of Australia.
Energy Pipelines CRC CEO Robert Newton congratulated Andrew on this significant honour saying that ‘Andrew was key in bringing Research Program 4 – Public Safety and Security of Supply into the Energy Pipelines CRC.
